Excellent food’, ‘good value for lunch’, are two comments on the 40 seat restaurant which Jason and Alison Bright have run for six years. They are open Tue–Sat, offering a table d'hôte menu for lunch and dinner Tue–Thur and for lunch only on Friday and Saturday (two courses £15.50, three courses £19.50). In the evening there’s also an à la carte menu which, for starters, might offer venison, smoked ham and wild mushroom terrine (£7.50) or pan-fried duck salad, with soy, honey, ginger and coriander marinade (£8.50).


Dinner main courses could see roast lamb rump with truffle mash (£19), roast monkfish (£20), or roast chicken breast with wild mushroom, shallot and smoked bacon confit (£18.50). Local suppliers include Irvings (butchers) in Ulverston, Cornvale Foods at Kirkby Lonsdale and Cartmel Valley Game Supplies and Smokehouse. Breads, ice cream and pasta are made in the restaurant’s kitchen

Your Comments: I dined at Rustique on Saturday night with my husband, his parents and his aunt, an Ulverston local. We had a fantastic experience from the moment we arrived to the time we left. The service was excellent, the staff friendly and knowledgable, and the food simply delicious. It was beautifully presented as well - we were so impressed by the deserts we took photos to remember them by, as they didn't last long! The atmosphere was relaxed and we felt we could take our time over our meal and make a night of it - we didn't feel hurried at all. I was so impressed by Rustique that I specifically memorised the website so I could post some feedback - more people should know about this wonderful place!!

Your Comments: I was recently working in Ulverston and visited your restaurant on my own. I was made welcome and looked after attentively throughout my stay. The food was superb and of a standard that you could expect in restaurants in major cities around the world. The atomsphere is also extremely good and I would definately come again when my travels bring me back to Ulverston. Good luck, you deserve to succeed.
